Hi Jamie, I’m working away building a directory using the Listings theme & frequently finding myself stuck with simple matters. I have a couple of questions for you. In developing a new listing, I notice on your tutorial that you have fields for ‘Excerpts’, ‘Send Trackbacks’, ‘Discussion’, ‘Author’ & ‘Custom Fields’, yet I only have the ‘Listings Custom Maps’, ‘Listings Customs Settings’, & ‘Listings Customs Settings’. Can you advise me where or how I can add the others, particularly the ‘Excerpts’ field. Also, in regards to the featured slider, in using a listing, the photo displays the permalink address in the photo, and further, the permalink address is also displayed at the top of the single page listing of that slider photo. My question is, how do I prevent the permalink address being displayed in these two places. As I read my question, it sounds unclear so I do hope you can make sense of it. Thanks for your assistance. Chris
May 20, 2012 at 7:43 am #4930Hi Jamie, My wife managed to solve part of my problem, ie the permalink address showing on the slider photo. She simply removed the permalink address from the section in the ‘Upload an Image’ which is located in ‘General Settings’. But my other problems remain. Thanks. Chris
May 20, 2012 at 9:10 am #4931Hi Chris,
You should be able to turn these other fields on by going to screen options and ticking the relevant field. Screen options is top right in your dashboard. Please note you need to be on the listings (edit) screen to see the relevant options, because screen options are context sensitive (i.e the options change depending on what page in your dashboard you are on).

May 21, 2012 at 1:28 pm #4937Hi Jamie,
Thanks for getting back to me with the info, it was very helpful. The steps that I took were to (1) go into Listing; (2) then Content Builder; (3) then Custom Post Type; (3) Listing {post type}; and finally, the Advanced Features. It was in the Advanced Features that I was able to add the sections I needed for Screen Options. Thanks again. ChrisMay 21, 2012 at 4:48 pm #4939Hi Chris,
That’s great, thanks for sharing the fix :)

July 26, 2012 at 9:24 pm #6098Hi Jamie, I have another question for you.
How does one change the colours for the search large box (not sure what to call it)? Not the search field boxes themselves, but the larger box they are contained in.
Second question. How do you add and change the field boxes in the ‘Upload a Listing’ form. There was nothing mentioned in your video in how to do this.
Thanks
ChrisJuly 27, 2012 at 3:24 pm #6100Hi Chris,
Here are your answers
1) You would need to find the relevant css and then target to change. I recommend you use Firebug to do this. Put any css changes in your custom.css file or child theme.
2) You can change fields by going to Listings/Content Builder/ Custom Fields.

August 6, 2012 at 3:47 am #6165Another question for you Jamie. In my single page listing, I do not want the image gallery. How do I stop the image gallery from being displayed? I will be having a single photo of the person on the page, I just don’t want the ‘image gallery’. Thanks for all your help, Chris.
August 6, 2012 at 5:21 am #6166Sorry Jamie, a second question for you. How do I locate the Google map at the bottom of my single listing page instead of it being in the default sidebar location? Thanks again, Chris
August 7, 2012 at 1:51 pm #6168Hi Chris,
Here are your answers.
1) The easiest way to not show an image gallery is to only upload 1 image . If you have more than 1 uploaded you just need to delete the other ones.
2) You need to turn on google maps for single listings. Are you running the latest version of listings?

September 25, 2012 at 2:45 pm #6672I have another query regarding the listings theme. Is there a checkout widget or facility to enable for charging for listings in the directory?
September 25, 2012 at 2:50 pm #6673Hi Susan,
Currently the Listings theme doesn’t support integrated charging for Listings. The only way to do this is
1) Take payment separately
2) Get some custom work done :(Jamie

"I must say what a hidden gem Pootlepress is, I learnt so much in the one-days training, in fact, it became invaluable knowledge when our previous websites became corrupted, and after the initial panic, I managed to set-up our two main websites within 2 days. The Academy is an amazing resource, easy to use, extremely helpful; in fact, you should put your price up.

“Thank you SOOO much for making the Whitelight videos…they totally solved every question I had. I followed along step by step, and after a little while I had gotten my entire site set up! You saved me so much time and made things so easy…I don’t know how to thank you enough. I think it’s quite safe to say that I would never ever figured out how to get all those Woo-Component steps done unless you walked me through it and showed me exactly what to do.
Whitelight is so much more complicated than Headlines was…so I even though I had built WordPress blogs before, I found myself completely lost with this new theme (but Whitlelight is so great I just had to use it!). The WooThemes tutorials were no help at all because they’re so general, and Whitelight has about a million special tricks. Now that WordPress and Woo Framework are getting more and more sophisticated, I’ll definitely profit from watching all your other WordPress video tutorials, too.”

"The internet is an ocean of information on Wordpress, but you can narrow it all down to just one place where you can find structured, organized and what really just works in one place, Pootlepress... The information presented on videos is very precise and worth every penny of the yearly membership.. It's just like having your own private library on ' Wordpress how to ', that keeps growing. I thoroughly recommend it."

"Within a few hours I managed to create the site. Now–for anyone else unsure on joining the Academy I am aged 54 with a little knowledge of WordPress. The video tutorials are easy to follow and understand. Ideal for who wants to work at their own pace!
Well done Jamie and the team."
